Man robs Dipper Cafe then invades home nearby occupied by woman

Police are investigating after a man invaded a home on Pleasant Street Thursday after leaving the scene of a nearby establishment, where he stole cash.

The suspect was observed by a New Bedford man who saw him steal cash from the counter at the Dipper Café, 1367 Purchase St. The victim chased the suspect on Purchase Street.

The suspect then ran inside a home on Pleasant Street, where he frightened a female resident, who yelled at him to leave the house. The man hesitated before leaving the house and remained near the back gate for a few minutes.

Officers Bryant Capello and David Roy responded to the incident, which was reported at 1:01 p.m.
