Man wearing Halloween mask, accomplice stab man resisting robbery in New Bedford

A 23-year-old New Bedford man was stabbed in the arm Thursday night by two men, one of whom was wearing a Halloween mask, in the area of Katherine and Bonney streets.

One of the men pushed the victim into a fence and told him to hand over his money. When the victim told him he had no money, one of the men slashed his arm with a knife. The man tried to stab him a second time but the victim was able to fight off the attack. The victim declined to go to the hospital.

Officer David Jorge responded to the incident, which was reported at 9:44 p.m. The case is being investigated by Det. Paul Fonseca, 508-991-6300, ext. 79507.
