New Bedford police arrest three after responding to large crowd disturbance

New Bedford police officers arrested three people to include a 20-year old with a loaded handgun after responding to a crowd disturbance in the 20 blocks of Bentley Street around 6 pm on Tuesday.

20-year old Edwin Garcia of New Bedford was arrested and is being charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and possession of a large-capacity firearm.

39-year old Damaris Martinez is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Police report that he was involved in an argument and pulled out a knife and allegedly became disorderly when police arrived.

19-year old Figueiredo Costa was arrested for disturbing the peace.
