On Wednesday evening at approximately 9pm members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at a Shaw Street apartment after an investigation into the sale of heroin out of this home.
The target of the investigation was found in the apartment and taken into custody without incident. As a result of the search, a small amount of heroin, digital scales, packaging material and $1,697 was seized.
Also found in the home was a sawed off 20 gauge shotgun, 25 shotgun shells, and 100 rounds of .38 caliber ammunition. Mr. Zapata does not possess a firearms license.
Scheduled to be arraigned this morning on drug and firearms related charges is; Oscar Zapata age 37 of Shaw Street in New Bedford.
