The South Coast Hot Jobs List – 24 October 2013

The Greater New Bedford unemployment rate is much higher than the rest of Massachusetts, but believe it or not there really are a lot of jobs available for qualified applicants. Sometimes the barrier to a new job can be the lack of information on available job openings. To solve this, each week New Bedford Guide will be working with the New Directions Southcoast (also known as the Greater New Bedford Career Center) and pulling jobs from our jobs database to inform job seekers about the hottest jobs in the area. We will define “Hot Jobs” as those jobs that need to be filled by the employer immediately. 1. Commercial Sewing Machine Operators #3159414 – Hiring experienced commercial sewing machine operators in the Fall River area. Spanish and Portuguese speaking encouraged to apply. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

2. Embroidery Machine Operator #3168222 – Looking for an experienced embroidery machine operator to work 32 hours Monday thru Thursday, no Fridays. Must be dependable, reliable and hard working. Portuguese & Spanish speaking encouraged to apply.

3. Chocolate Manufacturer #3173412 – Production of fine confections, packaging products and cleaning facility. Must be clean, respectful, a team player, follows directions, can lift 50 pounds, reliable transportation at plus.

4. Stitchers #3173416 – Stitchers needed for local manufacturer. Experience is required. Work schedule is Monday – Friday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

5. Mechanics #3173428 – Experienced Mechanic needed for a local manufacturer. Must be experienced in the clothing industry. Position is 1st Shift – 7:00AM – 3:30PM.

6. Pressers #3173421 – Experienced pressers needed for local manufacturer. All positions are available on 1st shift. Hours are Monday- Friday 7:00AM – 3:30PM.

7. Tapers/Finishers #3096526 – Bay State Drywall is looking for Tapers/Finishers to be a part of our team. Bay State Drywall is an established open shop commercial contractor located in East Freetown, MA.

Position Summary:

• This position requires the ability to apply 1st, 2nd and finish coats over drywall. The successful candidate will be dependable and have own transportation. OSHA 10-hour certification is a plus. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as well as work in both hot and cold environments on a regular basis.
• Experienced preferred, but will train the right candidate.

8. Bookkeeper (Part-Time) #3173518 – Part time bookkeeper needed for a local well established Accountant firm. Experienced in EZ Software, LeCert & Quickbooks is preferred. Knowledge of Quarterly tax return fillings helpful. Approximately 20-30 hours per week and they are flexible (M-F) to be discussed at interview. Great position for the right person.

9. Chef #3192008 – Bar & Grill located in New Bedford looking to hire a Chef ASAP. MUST HAVE AT LEAST FIVE YEARS EXPERIENCE IN A BUSY ESTABLISHMENT.
Must be able to create own menu. Creativity is a MUST. Ability to work alone in a fast pace environment. Also, must be reliable and dependable.

10. Pub Cook #3192007 – Bar & Grill located in New Bedford looking to fill ASAP the position of a Pub Cook. Must have experience with small pick food such as Pizza, Chicken Wings and appetizers.

11. Dishwasher #3192004 – Bar & Grill in New Bedford looking to hire a part time dishwasher. Experience helpful. Must be reliable & dependable and able to work in a fast pace atmosphere.

12. Sales & Marketing #3192061 – Looking for a sales driven individual with a personal vehicle and licensed to inquire prosperous customers. Able to use the computer proficiently.

13. Screen Printer #3192060 – Looking for a dedicated hard working individual with screen printing background. Employer willing to train the right candidate who has the willingness to learn.
