54-year old New Bedford man dies from fatal heroin overdose

A 54-year-old man suffered a fatal overdose Monday in the 200-block of Ashley Boulevard. Police were called at 12:19 a.m. to a report of a man not breathing. Drug paraphernalia was found in the man’s apartment.

Another resident of the building administered several doses of Narcan while another tenant performed CPR on the man. He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner is investigating.
