Last night at approximately 9:50pm north end New Bedford police officers were sent to a shots fired call in the area of Ashley Boulevard and Sawyer St. 911 calls were received, as well as, a Shotspotter activation.
The victim, a 24 year old New Bedford man who is known to the police, was sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot. The shots were fired from a northerly direction and specifically targeted the vehicle. The victim may have suffered a grazing wound to his abdomen area and was also struck by breaking glass.
He refused medical treatment on scene and stated he would probably go to the hospital on his own at a later time.
