21-year old Acushnet Ave shooting victim expected to make a full recovery

New Bedford Police continue to actively investigate the shooting of a 21-year-old New Bedford man at about 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the 200 block of Acushnet Avenue.

The victim was in stable condition Thursday at Rhode Island Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.

His name is not being released at this time. The victim is 21. Earlier reports of his age were incorrect.

Two hours earlier, at around 1 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Chancery Street and Court Streets on reports of shots fired. When police arrived they found two parked vehicles that sustained damage from possible gunfire. There were no reports of injuries or any other damage.

However, through the course of the investigation, detectives now believe the two incidents may be connected.
