Is Massachusetts State Representative for New Bedford Tony Cabral running for mayor of New Bedford in 2017? Yesterday, his ‘Tony Cabral for Mayor of New Bedford’ Facebook page was updated with a new cover photo:
The last time that Facebook page saw any activity was January, 2015.
Representative Tony Cabral did run for mayor and make it to the final round of the 2011 New Bedford mayor race against current Mayor Jon Mitchell. I did call his local and Boston office for confirmation this morning, but the calls haven’t been returned yet.
The only person so far to confirm their intentions for running for New Bedford mayor this year is Charlie Perry. No candidacies are official yet as nomination papers do not become available until mid-May, 2017.
