Panel will include information for students on applying to and deciding on universities, college financial aid, academics, social life, the workforce, armed forces, and summer opportunities.

The New Bedford High School Young Alumni Association will host an alumni panel on Tuesday, July 21, aimed at informing incoming juniors (Class of 2016) and other grade levels of New Bedford High students about post-high school opportunities.

Comprised of recent New Bedford High alumni, the panel plans to discuss the college application and decision process, financial aid, academic and social life at school, the workforce, the armed forces, and summer opportunities.

There will be 5-7 panelists who have followed different academic paths, to provide a wide variety of resources for current NBHS students to make informed decisions about their future plans and how to begin preparing.

Topics will include how to get the most out of applications and college visits; choosing a school based on its offerings, size and locations; navigating the financial aid process including the FAFSA, grants, scholarships and loans; the transition to college life including academic and social life; and opportunities in the workforce, armed forces and summer employment/internships for high school graduates.

There will be an opportunity for questions from current high school students for the panelists.

The panel will be held in the Community Room at Keith Middle School, 225 Hathaway Boulevard.
