Join Ruth and Abby, the national park’s 1850s ladies, on Saturday, August 29 from 1:00-3:00 PM to celebrate New Bedford’s everyday life as a bustling whaling port.
Coopers, merchants, harpooners, boarding house keepers and many more lived and worked in the whaling port of New Bedford. Dress in their garb and hold the tools of their trade in your hands. Bring your camera to capture the experience. This free event will take place in the park garden. In case of inclement weather it will be moved indoors.
