Rita Redshoes will be at Narrows – Center for the Arts in Fall River

Arte Institute, the Consulate of Portugal in New Bedford, Portugalia Market, UMass Dartmouth and Radio WJFD, proudly presents Rita Red Shoes in concert at the Narrows – Center for the Arts in Fall River.

The event will take place at Narrows – Center for the Arts, in Fall River, on September 11 at 8.00p.m. The doors open at 7:00 p.m.

The world discovered her with “Dream On Girl”, her first solo statement in the “New Talents – FNAC 2007” compilation but her journey began a few years before, still as “Rita Pereira”, when integrating the group Atomic Bees with which she recorded in 2000 the album “love.noises.and.kisses”. In 2003 she entered to David Fonseca’s band with whom recorded “Hold Still” (LINK), a duet included in the album “Our Hearts Will Beat As One”.

Till now, Rita recorded three solo albums – “Golden Era” (2008), “Lights & Darks” (2010) and recently, “Life Is A Second Of Love” (2014). Is in the current music scene a rare case of talent expressed in an impressive set of songs – “Dream On Girl” (LINK), “The Beginning Song”(LINK),”Choose Love” (LINK), “I Should Go”(LINK), “Captain Of My Soul” (LINK) or the recent “Broken Bond”(LINK) and “White Lies”(LINK) are just some examples of Rita Redshoes creativity and sensitivity. She performed in Portugal, Spain, France, Hungary, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Brasil and the United States. In partnership with The Legendary Tigerman composed the soundtrack of the play “The Gambler” (Tolstoy dir: Gonçalo Amorim) and of the movies “The Scoundrel” (dir: Paulo Abreu) and “Hay Road” (dir: Rodrigo Areias) with which was awarded with the “Prémio Sophia” granted by the Portuguese Cinema Academy among other distinctions.

Rita is currently presenting “Life Is A Second Of Love”, a disc recorded between Portugal and Brazil, produced by the São Paulo musician Gui Amabis. Praised by the media, “Life Is A Second Of Love” marks the return of Rita Redshoes to the songs after a pause of four years. The record was included in all of the usual “best of the year” lists.
On stage, Rita Redshoes takes the audience on a journey between dynamic pop songs and the sensibility of a voice and a piano. She either performs solo or with her band.

Rita Redshoes, nome artístico de Rita Pereira , é uma cantora e compositora portuguesa, ex-vocalista dos Atomic Bees e ex-teclista deDavid Fonseca. Ficou neste último trabalho especialmente conhecida por dar a voz na canção “Hold Still”. Em 2008 lançou o seu primeiro álbum a solo como Rita Redshoes, de nome “Golden Era”.

A partir de 2003 tornou-se a teclista de serviço na banda de suporte de David Fonseca, com quem interpretou o tema ‘Hold Still’, do álbum “Our Hearts Will Beat As One”, o segundo na carreira do antigo vocalista dos Silence 4. Em 2007, o imaginário do filme “O Feiticeiro de Oz” e o clássico ‘Let’s Dance ‘, de David Bowie, inspiraram-na a adoptar o nome de Rita Redshoes. Na mesma altura começa a alinhavar o seu primeiro álbum em nome próprio e dá a conhecer o single ‘Dream On Girl’, incluído na colectânea “Novos Talentos – FNAC 2007” e considerado, por alguns
órgãos de comunicação, um dos melhores desse ano.

O álbum lançado em 2008, apresenta 12 músicas cantadas em inglês, uma dúzia de exemplos de pop melódica que remete para os universos de Fiona Apple, Cat Power, dos primeiros tempos dos Goldfrapp ou ainda de David Fonseca.

De “Golden Era” são já conhecidos os temas “Dream On Girl”, “Hey Tom”, e “The Beginning Song” que têm estado a servir de cartão de visita da música de Rita.

“As canções são fragmentos de mim, de coisas que eu penso sobre o amor, são influenciadas pelo que eu vejo, não tanto pela música, mas por imagens, por filmes. Tenho muitas imagens gravadas na minha cabeça e tudo isso me influencia”
