Earlier we reported about a homicide investigation underway in New Bedford involving a Yellow Cab.
Here is additional information:
Police investigation has revealed that the cab driver picked up Mr. Dunton and a second male from an address on Cottage Street. While in the cab the two males attempted to violently rob the cab driver by placing him in a choke hold and utilizing a knife.
The cab driver was able to escape the cab and fired several shots that struck Mr. Dunton. The cab driver has a valid License to Carry. The police are currently searching for the second assailant who fled the scene.
The cab driver’s use of force to defend himself is part of the ongoing investigation by both the New Bedford Police Department and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
