Two armed robberies overnight in New Bedford

On Saturday there were two convenience store armed robberies that took place. There were similarities in both crimes.

At approximately 3:30pm JC Variety in the 300 block of Cedar St. was robbed at knifepoint. The suspect entered the store and demanded money and cigarettes. He was last seen fleeing the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. He is described as a thin white male approximately 5 ft. 9 inches wearing a white t-shirt and dark sweat pants.

At approximately 8:45pm the Xtra Mart in the 100 block of Durfee St. was also robbed at knifepoint. Taken was an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money. He was described as a tall thin white male with short black hair. He had a shirt covering his face. He was last seen running through the yards in a southerly direction.
