State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Route 195 East in Westport

Today at about 8:12 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Dartmouth responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Route 195 east between Exits 10 and 11 in Westport that resulted in three fatalities.

Preliminary investigation by troopers indicates that a livery vehicle crossed the median, hitting a vehicle travelling westbound in the left travel lane head-on. that resulted in three fatalities.

Preliminary investigation indicates that two occupants of the livery vehicle that crossed the median are deceased, and one occupant of the vehicle that was struck head-on is deceased.

No further information on the victims’ identities is being released at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers are being assisted by Wesport Fire and EMS and MassDOT.

The eastbound side of Route 195 is closed and the left lane of the westbound side at the crash scene is closed at this time to accommodate the crash investigation and reconstruction.

  1. Just drove this section of 195. NO guard rails, no median divider, jersey barrier or cable to prevent cross over into on coming traffic! Shameful Mass Highway. This never should have happened.
