New Bedford police seize 7 pounds of marijuana and $88,000 cash

New Bedford Police Department’s Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau (narcotics unit) executed a search warrant at 182 Chancery Street, (Temple Landing) on Monday Sept, 26th. The raid was conducted at approximately 5:30 pm. As result of the raid, over 7 pound of marijuana was found, packaging materials, and $88,000.00 in U.S. currency.

Detectives located $38,000.00 in the home, and as result of further investigation, an additional search warrant was obtained for a safety deposit box in which $50,000.00 in U.S. currency was found the following day (9/27/16)

Arrested were: Victor Irving Rivera 07/24/1975 of 182 Chancery Street in New Bedford.
Mary Luz Arroyo 07/10/1967 of 182 Chancery Street NB

Charges: Rivera:

1. Possession with intent to distribute class “D” marijuana
2. Conspiracy to violate the controlled substance laws
3. Possession with intent to distribute class “D” subs offense

Arroyo:

1. Possession with intent to distribute class “D” marijuana
2. Conspiracy to violate the controlled substance laws

Both defendants were on SSI and living in subsidized housing while possessing $88,000.00 and over 7 lbs of marijuana.
