A Somerset man was charged with OUI drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and possession of heroin after being involved in an accident Wednesday on Popes Island that injured an Acushnet woman.

Corey C. Dunn, 26, of 216 Kathleen Ave., Somerset, was traveling east in the right-hand lane on Route 6 near the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge when he veered across four lanes of traffic into the parking lot of the Fairhaven True Value Hardware at 23 Popes Island.

His vehicle struck a car driven by a 54-year-old Acushnet woman who was waiting to exit the parking lot.

She was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with complaints of leg pain.

Heroin and marijuana were found on Dunn during a search by police. An immediate threat of license revocation was submitted to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

The accident was reported at 1 p.m.
