The following is a release from the Paul Chasse campaign:

Paul Chasse today announced his candidacy for New Bedford City Council in the open-seat race for Ward 5. Chasse is a longtime city resident and Chief Executive Officer for the REALTOR® Association of Southeastern Massachusetts. His current political experience includes working with local, state and federal legislators on important issues such as home ownership, property values and private property rights. In addition, he is the chairman of the Rail-to-Boston Coalition, which partners with private and public sector organizations to advocate for the reestablishment of commuter rail service to South Coast Massachusetts.

“Strong property values are a result of safe communities, steady economic development, greater smart growth expansion and strong schools that provide quality education while maintaining reasonable property tax levels for both the residents and business owners of the city,” states Chasse. “I’m very proud of this city, but there is still work to be done, and I believe that fresh ideas and solid constituency services on the council will help to continue moving our city forward.”

Chasse adds, “It is important to keep conversations going on the opioid abuse and homelessness, particularly veterans homelessness, so we can help a segment of the community that is in desperate need of assistance.”

Finally, Paul thanked Councilor Kerry Winterson for all of the time, effort and hard work that he has done on behalf of the families and businesses of Ward 5.
