Anything that the Club Madeirense S.S. Sacramento, Inc. touches turns to gold. Without a doubt, one of the most popular and beloved festivals on the South Coast in general and New Bedford specifically is that of the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament, colloquially called “The Feast.”

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that COVID canceling a prior feast just means I have to go twice as much this year than I usually do! Twice the malasadas, twice the carne de espito, twice the Madeira wine!

We can’t get ahead of ourselves, We are still months away from this year’s feast. However, organizers have a series of special events planned leading up to the feast to whet your appetite.

Fish Fry

On Friday, March 31, 2023 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm they will host a Fish Fry with proceeds going to the Vocational Award Committee which assist local vocational students. It will take place in the Madeira Field 50 Madeira Avenue, the same place the Feast takes place.

The event will feature:

• Fish & Chip plate with cup of chowder $20
• Fish & Scallop plate with cup of chowder $25
• Beer, wine, and soda available
• Raffle/Auction as well
• Take-out is available

You can get your tickets and support a great cause – our kids – by visiting this page.

The organizers have a Facebook event page which provides more details, allows you to share, get updates, and follow or start a discussion.
