New Bedford waterfront dispute over narcotics

New Bedford Police made arrests following an incident the morning of Friday, Aug. 3 at the waterfront.

The incident involved a dispute over narcotics among individuals known to each other.

At one point during the incident, one of the people involved, who was legally licensed to carry a firearm, pulled a weapon while another of the participants jumped in the water.

Police subsequently arrested:

Cesar Humberto Soares, 45, of 252 Flag Swamp Road, Dartmouth, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

Cesar Soares, 22, of 314 Tinkham St. Apt. 2, New Bedford, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute and on a warrant.

Police will release the identities of others arrested once the investigation is complete.
