New Bedford Police charge city woman with Assault & Battery on a police officer

“On Sunday, May 22, New Bedford Police Department officers responded to the area of West Beach for a report of a fight in progress.

Upon arrival, officers met with a woman, identified as Ashley Ortiz, 29, of 208 Nash Road #2, who was highly intoxicated and causing a traffic jam attempting to fight several people at the beach.

After officers arrested her and were trying to transport her, she struck an officer. Ortiz was charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and Assault & Battery on a police officer.” -New Bedford Police Department.
