New Bedford Police drug investigation leads to Fentanyl trafficking arrest

“New Bedford narcotics detectives have arrested a local man for trafficking in Fentanyl.

On July 28, detectives executed a warrant at 48 Malden St. The target of the investigation was JESUS SANTIAGO, 30. During the search, detectives located one plastic bag of fentanyl weighing 29.9 grams, a plastic bag of marijuana weighing 61.9 grams, digital scales, a bottle of inositol (cutting agent), and $1,583.

SANTIAGO was arrested and charged with trafficking 18 grams or more of fentanyl and possession to distribute marijuana. The cash was seized as a result of the nature of his charges.

At the time of this arrest, SANTIAGO currently has an open case in Bristol Superior court for conspiracy to violate the controlled substance laws stemming from an incident in November of last year.

The arresting officer was Detective Nathan Almeida.
