“Earlier today, Chief Oliveira visited a group of kids who have been attending summer camp for the past week.
Our SROs participate in a 4-week long camp with upcoming 5th and 6th graders to help make their transition smoother into middle school.
Each week, the SROs get a batch of about 40 kids and plan activities for them. On Monday they go to the zoo, on Tuesday the movies, on Wednesday they go bowling, on Thursday they go to Caddy Shack, and Friday is fun day.
“We want to help build a positive relationship with these kids,” said Ofc. Leanne Fisher. They had a lot of questions for the chief about the department and being a police officer!” -New Bedford Police Department.
