New Bedford police arrest two with over 100 grams of heroin

New Bedford Police narcotics unit took nearly $14,000 worth of heroin off the streets and arrested two men from outside the city Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into drug deliveries being conducted in the city.

  • Jonior Sanchez, 45, of 71 Basswood St. Apt. 2, Lawrence was charged with trafficking in heroin (over 100 grams) and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
  • Jose Tavarez, 54, of 3256 81st St. Apt. 1ST, East Elmhurst, N.Y., was charged with trafficking in heroinover 100 grams) and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

The arrests were made in the area of Cook and Mill streets at about 9:08 p.m. as a result of the two men being stopped in a BMW.
