New Bedford police arrest twelve on drug charges on Wednesday

New Bedford police officers arrested twelve people on various drug charges in three separate incidents on Wednesday. In total, the New Bedford police department made 16 arrests on Wednesday, October 23.

At 12:08 am, New Bedford police officers executed a search warrant at 131 Hathaway Street, Apartment 2W and arrested six people. Police seized $1,932 in cash and more than 2 grams of suspected crack-cocaine. Arrested were:

– 40-year old Thomas Andrade of 33 S Sixth Street New Bedford is being charged with possession of cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws and for an outstanding warrant.
– 30-year old Marie Jennette of 131 Hathaway Street, Apartment 2W is being charged with possession class B drug, possession class B drug second offense, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
– 36-year old Lacy Langevin of New Bedford is being charged with possession to distribute crack cocaine, possession to distribute crack cocaine second offense, conspiracy to violate drug laws and two outstanding warrants.
– 23-year old Alyssa Jackson of 131 Hathaway Street, Apartment 2W in New Bedford is being charged with possession to distribute Class B drug and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
– 36-year old Scott Piva of 523 North Front Street, Apartment #4 in New Bedford is being charged with possession Class B drug and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
– 30-year old Maria Alves of New Bedford is being charged with Class B drug possession.

At 1 pm, New Bedford police narcotics officers were conducting street-level drug sales investigations when they observed activity consistent with drug sales/possession. A traffic stop was made at 60 Nye Street and a search yielded a small amount of suspected heroin and cocaine (less than a gram each). Arrested were:

– 37-year old Yariluz Segarra-Mendez of 134 Tallman Street, apartment 3W in New Bedford is being charged with Class B drug distribution, conspiracy to violate drug laws and intimidation of a witness or official.
– 62-year old Walter Bennett Jr. of New Bedford is being charged with Class B drug possession and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
– 45-year old Karen Joseph of Fairhaven is being charged with Class B drug possession and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

At 5:30 pm, New Bedford police officers were conducting street-level drug sales investigations when they observed three individuals engaging in activity consistent with drug sales. A traffic stop was made at 436 Mill Street and a search yielded a gram of suspected cocaine and 2 oxycodone tabs. Arrested were:

– 27-year old Akeem White of 791 Brock Ave. Apartment 2 is being charged with Class B drug distribution, Class B drug possession and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
– 20-year old Paulo Fonts of 409 Lindsey Street apartment #2 in Fall River is being charged with Class B drug distribution and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
– 36-year old Cassandra Bellefleur of Brunswick, Main is being charged with Class B drug possession and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

All individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
