New Bedford will be hosting dozens of public New Year’s Eve events hosted by the city hall and local businesses. Here is a list of public New Year’s Eve events in and around New Bedford. If you want to get an event added send details to info@newbedfordguide.com.

City Public Events

Seamen's Bethel New Bedford
The Seamen's Bethel New Bedford will host an ecumenical church service from 5-6pm.

2-4pm
Make Hats with Artworks!
Where: Artworks! (384 Acushnet Ave)
Details: Bring your own for the hat contest at City Hall.

4:30pm
Live Ice Sculpting
Where: Custom House Square

Ruth and Abby, the 1850s ladies, will be playing Victorian parlor games
Where: New Bedford Visitor Center (33 William Street)

Cafe Arpeggio Live Music
Where: Cafe Arpeggio (800 Purchase Street)
Details: Art Tebbetts (5:00-5:30 & 7:30-8:00), Matt Borrello with Brian Strange “sittin’ in” (5:30-6:30), and Barbara Phaneuf (6;30-7:30).

New Beford City Hall Guided Tour
Where: New Bedford City Hall (133 William Street)
Details: Tour provided by the New Bedford High School ROTC. Free hot chocolate!

Toe Jam Puppet Band New bedford
The Toe Jam Puppet Band will perform every hour from 5:30 to 7:30pm.

The City of New Bedford fireworks display start at 9pm at Custom House Square.

Details: Performed by the New Bedford Drama Club.

Fado singer Ana Vinagre
Where: New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park (33 William Street)
Details: Renowned Portuguese fado singer Ana Vinagre will mesmerize the audience with her renderings of traditional Portuguese songs.

7-10pm
New Year’s Swingin’ Eve
Where: New Bedford Whaling Museum (18 Johnny Cake Hill)
Details: Looking for the perfect place to ‘swing’ in the New Year? Join in our “Museum of Music” featuring a swingin’ jazz quintet, a classical duo and a rock duo! Experience a variety of musical performances throughout the Museum’s galleries. We won’t be swingin’ until midnight, so bring the kids! View the City’s fireworks display from the comfort of the Bourne Building, and we’ll have our own countdown at 9 pm. Tickets: $50 for Adults or $15 for Children (entertainment provided). Purchase tickets online, or call the Whaling Museum at 508-997-0046 x150.

Where: Custom House Square
Details: The fireworks start at 9:00, and take place at Custom House Square.

9:30pm to 12:30am
Mercy Meals and More Non-alcohol Free Event
Where: 634 Purchase Street
Details: Attendees are invited to bring a snack to share, board games, musical CD, guitar’s and other instruments. A non alcoholic toast to 2012 will happen at midnight. Any questions contact Rev. Russ Chamberlain @ 508-728-1489.
