New Bedford police bust up Fentanyl delivery operation; charge one with trafficking

Members of the New Bedford Police Department narcotics took Fentanyl off the streets and made an arrest Monday, Sept. 10 following an investigation into a narcotics delivery operation out of a Scott St. apartment.

Narcotics detectives executed a search warrant and located more than 16 grams of Fentanyl, two pills, cash, packaging materials and digital scales at the location.

Jose F. Avelar, 37, of Scott St. New Bedford, was charged with trafficking in more than 10 grams of Fentanyl and possession of class B substance.

The arrest was made at 8:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10.
