New Bedford man shot during robbery walking home with friends


This morning at approximately 2:15am there was a robbery attempt in the area of Tallman St. and Acushnet Ave. The victim, a New Bedford man, was walking home with two friends from a local establishment. Two males approached the victim and attempted to rob him at gunpoint. A struggle ensued and the suspect fired two shots before fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.

One of the shots grazed the victim in the head and he was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor non life threatening injuries. The second shot struck a nearby parked auto.

There are no descriptions at this time and detectives are arranging to speak with the victim sometime today.
