New Bedford police officers arrested Ramone Serrano, 41, of 1541 Purchase Street, after parole officers visited his residence and observed illegal contraband. Narcotics detectives led by Det. Lavar Gilbert seized more than 900 grams of heroin and more than 290 grams of cocaine. Serrano has a lengthy criminal history involving dealing heroin and cocaine, including five prior trafficking convictions and four prior convictions for possession with intent to distribute drugs. He was out on parole from Bristol County Superior Court until 2021.

Last month, members of the New Bedford Police Department Narcotics Unit broke up three separate Fentanyl distribution services, arresting three alleged drug traffickers.

“The New Bedford Police Department will continue its crackdown on drug distribution activity in New Bedford,” said Chief Joseph Cordeiro. “Drug distribution and trafficking touches the lives of nearly every resident of our community, and I commend the work of our detectives in the Narcotics Unit for their relentless push to break up drug distribution activities.”
