Members of the New Bedford Narcotics Unit led by Detective Kevin Barbosa executed a search warrant for a heroin distribution service operated out of 306 Tinkham Street in New Bedford on Wednesday, seizing 5 grams of heroin and arresting Miguel Castillo-Aguasvivas, 37, and a male who has not yet been positively identified.

Castillo-Aguasvivas had outstanding warrants from an open case from 2013 in which he was arrested for trafficking more than 150 grams of heroin and 60 grams of cocaine; he has been wanted for over 5 years.

Last month, members of the New Bedford Police Department Narcotics Unit broke up three separate Fentanyl distribution services, arresting three alleged drug traffickers.

“The New Bedford Police Department will continue its crackdown on drug distribution activity in New Bedford,” said Chief Joseph Cordeiro. “Drug distribution and trafficking touches the lives of nearly every resident of our community, and I commend the work of our detectives in the Narcotics Unit for their relentless push to break up drug distribution activities.”
