New Bedford man shares experience he and his brother had with “legend, home run king” Hank Aaron

“On a nice summer day in July of 1978 myself and my brother Paul were fortunate enough to get to meet Hank Aaron while he was attending a golf tournament at the New Bedford Country Club.

Not only did he sign our baseballs and pose for a picture with us but we actually got to sit down at one of the glass topped country club tables and enjoy a soda with him, genuinely nice guy!

I remember him encouraging my brother and me to enjoy the game, which we both did, and continue to love the great American pastime sport! My brother and myself got to play on the little league team. That’s why we have matching baseball hats! I didn’t know at that time how much of a legend I was in the company of. Only now do I realize how lucky I was!

RIP to legend, home run king ‘Hammering’“ Hank Aaron.” -Jeffrey Boudreau.
