New Bedford Man charged with OUI after crashing into fence

Angel Martoral, 74, of Arlington Street in New Bedford, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol Monday after his vehicle struck a fence at Glennon and Arlington streets.

Police responded to a report of an accident at the location at 4:39 p.m. When police arrived, Martoral was behind the wheel and a half-empty bottle of vodka was found in the passenger seat.

Martoral told police he was injured but could not provide specific information about his injury. He was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for evaluation of any potential injury.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
