New Bedford firefighters battle house fire on Adams Street

At approximately 1:20 a.m. today, New Bedford Fire Department firefighters reported to a structure fire on Adams Street.

Upon arrival, a second-alarm was activated. It appears that the fire started in the stairwell and the owner, the sole resident, was able to evacuate safely.

Firefighters worked through the early morning hours to keep this blaze under control. At about 3:30 a.m., the fire was knocked down. However, a fire watch is ongoing.

No injuries have been reported and the cause is under investigation.
