A 30-year-old New Bedford man who was out on bail for a stabbing in February 2016 and served prison time for a previous manslaughter conviction was arrested Thursday for trafficking in Fentanyl.
Robert Geliga, 30, of New Bedford, was the target of an investigation into a Fentanyl distribution service out of 180 Richmond St., apartment 3.
The New Bedford Police Department narcotics division executed a search warrant at the address. Police found 20 bags of Fentanyl weighing 16.5 grams, $90 in cash, a digital scale, cutting agents and packaging materials.
Geliga was out on $50,000 bail set in Superior Court from a stabbing incident in February 2016 outside a North End establishment.
He was convicted of manslaughter in 2007 and served six and a half years in state prison.
Geliga was arraigned Friday on the trafficking charges. His $50,000 bail for the February assault and battery charge stemming from the stabbing was revoked and an additional $50,000 bail was set for the trafficking case.
He was arrested at 2:53 p.m. Thursday.
