New Bedford City Council to take up single-use plastic bag ban on Thursday

On Thursday, the New Bedford City Council will take up a single-use plastic bag ban. If passed, the ordinance will require businesses with a retail space of 10,000 square feet or greater or with at least two locations in New Bedford to eliminate single-use plastic bags within 6 months. Businesses will face fines of $100 to $300.

The proposed ordinance reads as follows:
