Massachusetts man barricades himself in home after allegedly shooting family members

On July 7th at about 8:38 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to a Colby Ave address for a domestic incident in which a male who had shot two family members.

Officers arrived and attempted to take the twenty-four-year-old suspect into custody. The suspect fired at officers but did not strike them. After firing at the officers, the male ran back into his residence.

The Worcester Police Hostage Negotiation Team was on scene with drone operators and a mental health clinician. They spoke with the male from behind a SWAT vehicle in hopes of bringing the incident to a peaceful resolution and at one time were assisted by the man’s other relatives.

After 13 hours of negotiations were unsuccessful, at 10:00pm police used a battering ram to gain access to the home where the suspect was taken into custody with the help of a K9 unit. He was then taken to the hospital.

Police did not release the suspect’s details, only that he was not well-known to them.

No officers were hurt, a male and one female shooting victim are currently being treated at the hospital. Their injuries are said to not bve life-threatening.”
