Marieke Slovin to present free concert at National Park

Maritime Songs at National Park Summer Concert Series

The 2014 Thursdays in the Park Concert Series continues with a performance of maritime songs on Thursday evening, August 7, 2014 from 6:30-7:30 PM. The free concert takes place in New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park’s garden, 33 William Street, downtown New Bedford. In the event of inclement weather the performance will be moved indoors to the National Park theater.

Marieke Slovin is the co-founder of Story-to-Song LLC, a company that helps people compose songs from the stories of their lives. Marieke has been working as a consultant to the National Park Service, mining oral history collections to compose original songs about people and their lives and work. She has written songs about people from all walks of life and leads songwriting workshops for youth and adults.
