There’s a lot in store at the Zoo for March!

Buttonwood Park Zoo, the region’s premiere destination for connecting, learning, and experiencing animals and their habitats has announced their March 2014 event schedule. March is chock full of fun activities that revolve around nature and animals that are sure to create memories for some time! Toe Jam Puppet Band
Every Monday at 10:00am & 11:30am
Cost: Zoo admission + $5/family
Sing, dance and play the hour away with New Bedford’s favorite, the Toe Jam Puppet Band!

Toddler Tales
Every Thursday at 10:30am
Cost: Free with zoo admission
Enjoy a zooper fun story time at the zoo! Toddler Tales includes a snack and a craft/activity. Recommended for ages 3-5.

Yoga at the Zoo
Wednesdays, February 26, March 12, & 26 at 1:00pm
Cost for Three Week Pre-paid Session
Zoo Members: $30 per adult/child pair; Non-members: $45 per adult/child pair plus zoo admission
Cost for Walk-In Class (space is limited)
Zoo Members: $15 per adult/child pair; Non-members: $20 per adult/child pair plus zoo admission
Get your child jumping like frogs or roaring like lions at our February Yoga at the Zoo. Join certified children’s yoga instructor Lynda Jacobvitz to explore creative movement through games, songs and simple yoga with your child in a fun and nurturing environment. They will wag their downward dog tails using a variety of multi-sensory experiences. Class is offered to children with a parent, grandparent or caregiver. Recommended for ages 2-5. Participants may pre-register and pre-pay for Yoga at the Zoo by calling (508) 991-4556 x 18.

FrogWatch Trainings
Saturdays, March 1 and 8 from 1:00-3:00pm
Local frogs need your help! Amphibian populations are declining worldwide so it’s important to learn as much as we can about these animals. Here’s how you can help! Join the Buttonwood Park Zoo’s FrogWatch Chapter! FrogWatch USA is a nationwide frog and toad monitoring program. Learn to identify local frog and toad calls at two training sessions on Saturdays, March 1 & 8, from 1-3pm. Then explore local wetlands to help contribute critical data to the long-term scientific study. Ready to become a citizen scientist? Call to register 508-991-6178 x 31.

Bear Cub Club
Tuesdays, March 11 – April 15 from 10:30am-12:00pm
Zoo members: $65/child, additional siblings under 5: $30/child
Non-members: $95/child, additional siblings under 5: $45/child

Does your 2 or 3-year-old love the Zoo? Sign them up to be part of our Bear Cub Club! Learn more about animals, sing songs, create crafts, listen to stories and make new friends. This playgroup is co-sponsored with the Schwartz Center for Children. For more information or to register, please call (508) 991-6178 x 31.

St. Patty-cakes Breakfast
Sunday, March 16 at 9:00am
Cost: Zoo members: $8/adult; $5/child
Non-member: $13/adult; $10/child
Children under 1 are free
Delight in deliciously green pancakes in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day at the Bear’s Den Café. After finishing your mouthwatering pancakes, explore the Zoo to see what all the animals are up to for the day! Everyone’s a weeeeee bit Irish, so join in the fun! Participants must pre-register and pre-pay by visiting www.bpzoo.org or calling (508) 991-4556 x 18.

Big Ryan’s Tall Tales
Saturday, March 29 at 11:00am
Cost: $5 family plus zoo admission
One of our favorite storytellers returns at the end of March for a round of tall tales. Big Ryan’s Tall Tales offers families with young children wildly fun stories with puppets and more!
