Bridgewater man arrested after robbing Bank Five an fleeing into Gomes Elementary

A Bridgewater man was arrested Friday after robbing Bank Five at 160 County St.

Stephen MacLean, 28, of 180 Main St., Bridgewater, was charged with armed robbery and several motor vehicle violations.
He robbed the bank at about 11:01 a.m. He claimed to have a weapon although no weapon was shown.

A substantial amount of money was taken during the robbery. The money was recovered after the arrest.

Mr. MacLean drove off before abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. He was apprehended at the playground at Gomes School, 286 S. 2nd St. The school was temporarily placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. No one was injured in the incident.
