Bishop Stang High School, a diocesan, co-educational, college preparatory school located on the Southcoast, has announced that six seniors have been commended in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program – Andrea Desilets, Amelia Bruno, Thomas Sullivan, Sophie Johnson, Mary Carroll and Theresa Gallagher.
“We are proud to recognize our 2015 National Merit Scholars who have consistently demonstrated exceptional academic standards during their time at Bishop Stang High School,” said Peter Shaughnessy, President/Principal of Bishop Stang. “These students join many others with their ability to demonstrate excellence and leadership, while always acting with integrity and compassion for others as they prepare for college.”
Commended students from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation place among the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
This year’s commended students were notified and recognized by the faculty, staff and students at Bishop Stang High School. The following are the hometowns of those recognized: Andrea Desilets (Little Compton, RI), Amelia Bruno (East Freetown, MA), Thomas Sullivan (New Bedford, MA), Sophie Johnson (Little Compton, RI), Mary Carroll (Portsmouth, RI) and Theresa Gallagher (Little Compton, RI).
