New Bedford man arrested for breaking into downtown Family Dollar

new-bedford-arrested-breaking-familly-dollarThis morning at approximately 2:30am a call came in regarding suspicious behavior in the area of Family Dollar located at 771 Purchase St. in downtown New Bedford.

Sgt. Joshua Fernandes and Sgt. Candido Trinidad were first on scene.

According to police, the suspect had just smashed through the front door and was in the process of entering the establishment. He was placed under arrest without incident.

As a result of a search, a small amount of crack cocaine and Xanax were found on his person.

Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford District Court:

Quiton Chapple age 30 of New Bedford:

  • Attempted breaking and entering in the nighttime
  • Malicious destruction of property
  • Illegal possession class B cocaine
  • Illegal possesson class E Xanax
