31-year old man charged with OUI in south end New Bedford accident

Kyle John Cobb, 31, of New Bedford, has been charged with OUI liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle following an accident Monday afternoon at West Rodney French Boulevard and South Rodney French Boulevard.

Cobb was driving a white Jeep Cherokee south on West Rodney French Boulevard onto South Rodney French Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a guard rail and the UMass Dartmouth School for Marine Science and Technology.

He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital as a precaution. A female backseat passenger and a male front passenger were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital. None of the injuries appear to be serious.

An immediate threat of license suspension/revocation for Cobb was submitted to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

The accident took place at 2:50 p.m.
