15 Things To Do This Weekend (Aug 22-Aug 24)

A wonderfully mild weekend is in store for us! We’ll be in the lower to mid 70s throughout this gorgeous weekend. Nights and mornings will be cool hovering in the low 50s. We may see a shower on Friday, but otherwise no precipitation. These types of weekends are perfect for heading out on some adventure and seizing what the area has available in terms of events, goings-on and happenings. There;s a ton of stuff going on within less of an hour’s drive.

Friday, August 22nd

Paint “Summer Cottage” at Painting w/ A Splash!
Zoo Nights! (5:30pm-8:00pm)
The first 2014 Zoo Night is tonight! Zoo Nights are designed to offer families an opportunity to enjoy the Zoo on cool summer nights, experience animal encounters and participate in children’s activities. Look for further details to follow at www.bpzoo.org.

Westport Rivers Winery Sunset Music Series : Neal McCarthy Trio (6-8pm)
Admission $10 per carload and beer, wine and SoCo local food will be served for a fee. Weather permitting. 417 Hixbridge Road.

Painting with a Splash: Sunset Beach & Van Gogh Starry Night (7:00pm)
Welcome to Painting with a Splash Where you are the artist! Painting with a Splash is the newest addition to Historic Whaling City Downtown New Bedford. Bringing you an experience of art as entertainment. Add a little wine (BYOB) that will surely tap into your creative side. With step by step instruction and a little music, you and your friends will create the evenings featured painting with a splash of your own uniqueness. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Just a desire to have fun.

 


Saturday, August 23rd

Silverbrook ACUSHNET Country Store (9:00am-8:00pm)
SWEET CORN HAS ARRIVED! The Silverbrook Country Store is the home of The Pereia Bread Co. (a tasty little division of Silverbrook Farm) where they make their Famous Pies and Breads, as well as jams, sauces and other great food products. It is also the home of their Farm Stand that is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday. Silverbrook Country Store also has a wonderful and unique line of crafts including their popular candle/potpourri items and a great selection of handmade Amish items that truly make great gifts for any occasion.

Church of the Good Shepherd Annual Yard Sale (9:00am-3:00pm)
The Annual Yard Sale, the major church fundraiser, is here! The kitchen will be selling stuffed cabbage, hot dogs, corn-on-the-cob, beverages and desserts. We need a chairperson, as well as volunteers to price and organize donations, to work during the sale, and to help break down afterwards. Most of the setup is completed, now we are focusing on the actual day. Hope to see you there! We need all the support we can get to make it a very successful event!

Edaville’s Curious George Weekend (10:00am-5:00pm)
Curious George has returned to Edaville once again to save the day! Meet and greet with Curious George himself and his owner, The Man in the Yellow Hat. Experience all new Dinoland, unlimited amusement rides, and unlimited train rides through cranberry country, plus enjoy all of our indoor and outdoor play spaces. For an additional $15 Breakfast with Curious George is available!

Get into the park before it opens to enjoy pancakes with George and the Man in the Yellow Hat! Head to Edaville USA for a very special breakfast with Curious George. The breakfast costs an additional $15 per person and includes: Your choice of Banana Pancakes or Regular Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Juice or Coffee, Bacon and Fruit.

Family Sand Scuplture Festival (Westport)(11:00am-2:00pm)

1st Annual Poker Run (Middleboro) (9:00am-9:00pm)
