YAY! Perfect weekend weather ahead. No rain is forecasted whatsoever and it’ll be sunshine in full effect all weekend long. Temperatures? They will be in the mid to upper 70s – not too hot, not too cold. You can hit the beach, go for a hike or walk, take part in the festival, live music, and other events throughout the South Coast and beyond without being hindered by weather!

Friday, June 17th

Family Fridays at the Sawmill: Meet A Tree (5:00pm-6:00pm)
Through fun games and hands-on activities, your family will learn about the Buzzards Bay region’s animals, plants, and habitats. Recommended for families with elementary school-aged children. This week we’ll be taking a close look at aquatic macroinvertebrates living in the Acushnet River. RSVP online, by phone, or by email. The Sawmill, 32 Mill RD. Acushnet.

WHALE’s Urban Soiree (6:00pm-9:00pm)
The Waterfront Historic Area League hosts a benefit for the future Co-Creative Center. Event includes open bar, raw bar by Fathoms restaurant, appetizers by Morton’s Fork Catering, music playlist curated by Neal Weiss of Whaling City Sound. Co-Creative Center, 139 Union St. New Bedford.

Music in the Gallery presents Cliff Eberhardt (7:30pm-10:00)
Singer-songwriter Cliff Eberhardt brings his powerful music and stage wit to the Music in the Gallery series to the beautiful and historic James Arnold Mansion owned by the Wamsutta Club, 427 County Street, New Bedford MA. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Saturday, June 18th

Women’s Club 3rd Annual Yard Sale (9:00am-1:00pm)
This is our 3rd year and this event is shaping up to be our biggest fundraising event of the year.
A new feature at the Yard Sale this year will be an appearance by the ‘Mermaid Bus’ from the Mermaids on Cape Cod. Rochester Women’s Club, 37 Marion Road, Rochester.

Annual New Bedford Polish Festival (All Day)
Polish Kielbasa, kapusta, golambki, pierogies, and other Polish food will accompany dancing, music, and fun. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 235 North Front Street, New Bedford.

Art on the Green is an outdoor festival with art, music, food, and activities – Saturday.

12th Annual Art on the Green at The Pinehills (10:00am-4:00pm)
An art exhibit, outdoor festival and market featuring over 85 local and regional artists showcasing their paintings, wood and glass art, photography, sculptures, eclectic jewelry, wearable art and more! Children are invited to visit the Kids Corner for face painting, fun art projects and to “Make a Tie for Dad”. It will also feature live steel drum music and food for purchase at the newly opened Café Roo, The Market, Mamma Mia’s, Rye Tavern, Mirbeau Inn & Spa, East Bay Grille at The Pinehills Golf Club and Ben + Jerry’s Ice Cream. 12th Annual SVT Cobra, Mustang and All Ford Car Show (10:00am-3:00pm)
There will be entertainment, food, and prizes. Of course the Mustangs are enough entertainment in themselves, and yet there is music by “Johnny Angel”, give-aways, free refreshments and more. It’s a great day if you love Mustangs. It’s a great day if you love cars. Heck, it’s just a great day! Bring the family and show the kids the latest and greatest Mustang. Show them the one that was around when you were a kid. They’ll be hooked on the Ponies too. Ashley Ford Sales, 395 Mount Pleasant Street, New Bedford.

The Helen E. Ellis Case: Haitian Statues (11:00am)
A collection of Haitian statues shared by Michael Habib through the end of June. Westport Library, 408 Old County Road, Westport.

60-Minuted Narrated Tour of New Bedford Harbor aboard the M/V Acushnet (12:00pm-5:30pm)
Enjoy a 60-Minute Narrated boat tour of historic New Bedford Harbor aboard the 26′ M/V “Acushnet!” Come experience the hidden jewel of the South Coast, where whaling history comes alive! Sail the same waters as Herman Melville and Joshua Slocum. See a real working waterfront. City Pier 3, 228 Macarthur Drive, New Bedford.

Whitfield-Manjiro Friendship House Museum (12:00pm-4:00pm)
The museum, which tells the story of Manjiro Nakahama, a castaway Japanese fisherboy who was rescued by Capt. William Whitfield and brought to Fairhaven on his whaleship. Manjiro was the first Japanese person to live in the United States. This event in history led to lasting ties of friendship. Also open by appointment. 11 Cherry Street, Fairhaven.

Prince Henry Society Fundraiser (6:00pm)
The society is gathering for a night of food, music and dance at the Venus de Milo Restaurant in Swansea. The buffet dinner and show starts at 6 p.m. The public is invited. Tickets are $50 and may be obtained from any member of the Prince Henry Society or by calling 774-526-6257. Empire Grille at the Venus de Milo, 75 Grand Army Highway, Swansea.

Sunday, June 19th

4th Annual Lazy Lobster 5 Mile & 10 Mile Road Race (9:00am-1:00pm)
Supporting MyTeam Triumph Massachusetts Athletes with Disabilities program. MYTEAM TRIUMPH is an athletic ride along program created for children, teens, adults, and veterans with disabilities who would normally not be able to experience endurance events such as triathlons or road races. Online registration and race information can be found by clicking the event title. Wareham Crossing, 2421 Cranberry Highway, Wareham.

Bird banding w/ the Audubon Society (9:15am-11:15)
Join Audubon and witness bird banding, where experts capture, band, measure and release songbirds in order to record their movements. Birds will be removed from tall mist nets set in Audubon’s shrubby habitats. The techniques of identifying, measuring, weighing and banding the birds will be demonstrated before they are released. The migratory habits and life history of each captured species will be discussed. Bring a camera and binoculars. Limited to 15 participants, so registration is recommended. Audubon Environmental Education Center
