“Westport firefighters responded to a reported structure fire late this afternoon in the south end of town.

Firefighters arrived to find a shed fully involved with fire, extending into the nearby woods, and quickly approaching a detached garage. The fire was knocked down and contained to the area before extending to the garage or nearby home.

A previous outdoor burn was left unattended and unfortunately, it spread to the shed which contained various pieces of outdoor equipment and fuels.

Always ensure your outdoor fire is fully extinguished and never leave a fire unattended.

Engines 1,3,4, Cars 1 & 2, along with off duty and call firefighters responded to the incident. Westport police provided traffic control and E911 dispatchers handled radio communications.”-Westport Fire Department.
