Memorial Day Weekend Activities from your go to guide for events: NBG!

new-bedford-weather

The weekend outlook, in terms of weather, is a wet one. Temperatures will range from a lowest high of 57 degrees on Sunday, to a high of 67 degrees today. It will be rainy with showers, showers, and a few showers respectively. A real bummer of weather for Memorial Day. However, as we’ve mentioned in the past, we are hardy New Englanders and that is what raincoats and umbrellas are for. Sitting on the coach isn’t living! However, if you simply don’t like rain, there are plenty of indoor activities too! A full list of memorial and military related services can be viewed here

Most of the events were pulled from our event calendar  where you can find hundreds of local area events each month. The event calendar is FREE, so if you are a local business, and not taking advantage of FREE publicity, shame on you! Are you a local business and want to sponsor this high traffic, weekend guide? Contact info@newbedfordguide.com for more details. Have an event to add? Check out our tutorial. For more info, you can click on each title. Know of another event this weekend? Post a reply!

New Bedford Harbor in a New Light (12:00 pm – 5:00 pm)
The New Bedford Art Museum’s newest exhibition, “New Bedford Harbor in a New Light” features recent work by more than 30 artists in a range of different media, curated by Kim Barry, Willoughby Elliott, and Lasse Antonsen. Artists were invited to create work inspired by the New Bedford harbor, history and culture.

The works on display range widely in terms of subject matter, referencing ocean eddies, acidification, the fishing industry, pollution, immigration and personal history. Stylistically the exhibition spans from gestural mark making in oil painting, through photography and sculpture, to meditative video work exploring the many sources of water that feed into the harbor. The Art Museum has placed a photo set on Flickr to tempt you here.
