State Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Route 24

At 1:39 a.m. Massachusetts State Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 24 southbound, south of Route 93, in Randolph that resulted in fatal injuries to one man and serious injuries to another.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Chevrolet van veered off the road to the left, into the grass median. The van then corrected and came back to the right, crossing the roadway and striking and rolling over the guardrail on the right shoulder.

One occupant was ejected and was determined to be deceased at the scene. The other occupant sufferered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton. Which of the victims was driving remains under investigation.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and State Police Detective Unit for Norfolk County.

The scene was cleared prior to the morning commute.

No further information is being released at this time.
