UPDATE: On Friday, December 22, 2017, Acushnet Police executed search warrants at 6 Briarwood Lane, Rochester as part of the ongoing investigation of an armed robbery committed on 12/14/17 at Jason’s Variety, 270 Main Street, Acushnet. As a result of the investigation and the recovery of evidence found during the execution of the search warrants, Acushnet Police arrested Sean C. Daniel DOB 3/19/1994 of 6 Briarwood Lane, Rochester at his home. Among the items recovered was a realistic looking BB handgun. Daniel is being charged with Armed Robbery While Masked in violation of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 265 Section 17.
Acushnet Police Detective Sergeant Christopher Richmond and Detective Jeremy Fontes were assisted in the investigation by members of the Acushnet Police Department Uniform Division, the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office South Coast Anti Crime Team, the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation as well as the Taunton and Rochester Police Departments.
SUBJECT: Arrest in connection with Armed Robbery on 12/14/2017 at Jason’s Variety, 270 Main Street, Acushnet.
DETAILS: On Thursday, December 14, 2017 at approximately 8:43PM, a suspect entered Jason’s Variety at 270 Main Street, Acushnet armed with a gun. The suspect pointed the gun at the clerk inside the store and demanded money from the cash register. The clerk complied and surrendered an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect fled on foot, heading north on Main Street before entering a light colored compact pickup truck that was parked on the corner of Oliveira Avenue. The truck then left the scene and headed north on Main Street. No injuries were reported.
