UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Thomas Pomare, age 34, of Santa Barbara, CA. Today, in the course of the investigation into yesterday’s homicide in Attleboro, investigators arrested Christopher Johnson of Attleboro. Johnson has been charged with misleading a criminal investigation. He will be arraigned in Attleboro District Court on Wednesday morning.
Last night at approximately 10:57 PM, Attleboro police received a 911 call reporting that a male in his thirties had been shot at 148 South Avenue in Attleboro. Police quickly responded and discovered that an individual had in fact suffered a life threatening gunshot wound.
This individual was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro where he was pronounced dead a short time later. This matter is being actively investigated as a homicide by the Detectives from the Attleboro Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the District Attorney’s Office.
Identification of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. As the investigation is in its early stages, no further information or comments will be released at this time.
