Police arrest 28-year old New Bedford man with stolen firearm

A search warrant was executed Tuesday at a home at a Nye St. apartment after an investigation into illegal possession of a firearm.

Wilrobert Lugo, 28, of New Bedford the target of the search, was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm without a license, two counts of improper storage of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and receiving stolen property over $250.

Police seized two firearms, both 9 mm firearms. One firearm had a magazine containing 12 rounds of 9 mm ammunition, the other had a magazine containing 10 rounds of 9 mm ammunition. A third magazine was found with 11 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

An investigation showed that one of the firearms was stolen in 2015 in South Carolina.
